SUMMER NEWSLETTER
Dear rider During the summer holidays and some week-ends there will be a number of extra events, these are as follows: SATURDAY 2ND JULY “MINIMUS JUMPING” 3-5p.m £7.00 per round LIVERIES £6.00 This is an excellent opportunity to practice over a full course of jumps before the forthcoming summer holiday events. Entrants will be grouped according to ability from lead rein upwards. No rider will be allowed more than two attempts. All successful entrants will receive a clear round rosette and points. SUNDAY 10TH JULY “TEA/BBQ RIDE” 3p.m £22.00 LIVERIES £15.00 This is a quiet out ride for riders of D badge standard and above and then back for tea/bbq. Please mark your form with a “V” if you are vegetarian. SATURDAY 16TH JULY “MINIMUS JUMPING” 3-5p.m £7.00 per round LIVERIES £6.00 As 2nd July. TUESDAY 26TH JULY “OWN A PONY DAY” 9-30a.m—4-30p.m £38.00 LIVERIES £32.00 This is and ideal opportunity to own a pony for a day and learn some aspects of pony care. This includes two hours riding and various stable management activities, quizzes etc. this is not suitable for lead rein riders. Parents are requested not to stay. WEDNESDAY 27TH JULY “OWN A PONY DAY” 8yrs & under 10a.m—4p.m £38.00 LIVERIES £32.00 As above with a limit of ten children. THURSDAY 28TH JULY “D BADGE TEST” 11-30a.m £20.00 THURSDAY 28TH JULY “H BADGE TEST” 2-00p.m £21.00 Please ask if you are ready to take the above tests before entering. FRIDAY 29TH JULY “WORKING HUNTER DAY” 9-30—4p.m £38.00 LIVERIES £32.00 This event is similar to an own a pony day, but entrants will be taught to plait up and turn their ponies out for a working hunter competition. After practising in the morning they will then compete against each other in front of a judge. Please ask if you are not sure what clothes to wear. WEDNESDAY 3RD AUGUST “DRESSAGE COMPETITION” 10.30a.m £15.00 LIVERIES £14.00 Please ask for a copy of the dressage test in plenty of time before this competition. Anyone wishing to do extra dressage lessons before this event please see Chris. THURSDAY 4TH AUGUST “TEA/BBQ RIDE” 2-30—4p.m £27.00 LIVERIES £17.00 This is a more advanced out ride for riders of H badge standard and above and then back for tea/bbq. Please mark your form with a “V” if you are vegetarian. SUNDAY 7TH AUGUST “TEA/BBQ RIDE” 3p.m £22.00 LIVERIES £15.00 As 10th July. TUESDAY 9TH AUGUST “FUN JUMPING DAY” 10-30a.m start £8.00 per event LIVERIES £7.50 This day will include several different jumping competitions, which may be entered individually (see entry form). The competitions will be followed by a sponsored show jump (open to anyone including lead-rein riders even if you have not taken part in the competitions). This is in aid of our pet charity “HELP THE AGED” and to raise funds for our “PRESENTATION EVENING” which will take place in November. Please see Chris for a sponsor form (no charge for use of pony). TUESDAY 16TH AUGUST “OWN A PONY DAY” 9.30a.m—4.30p.m £38.00 LIVERIES £32.00 As 26th July. WEDNESDAY 17TH AUGUST “OWN A PONY DAY”8yrs & under 10a.m—4p.m £38.00 LIVERIES £32.00 As 27th July. FRIDAY 19TH AUGUST “EQUIPTON FACTOR” 9a.m—4p.m £38.00 LIVERIES £32.00 This is a fun competition based on T.V’s Krypton Factor and is open to anyone of H badge standard and above. SUNDAY 21ST AUGUST “TEA/BBQ RIDE” 3-00p.m £22.00 LIVERIES £15.00 As 10th July. TUESDAY 23RD AUGUST “GAMES DAY” 10.00a.m—4.00p.m £38.00 LIVERIES £32.00 This event will be run in teams of four and is open to anyone from D badge upwards. The morning will be taken up with gymkhana type relay races. In the afternoon there will be a treasure hunt in the field. THURSDAY 25TH AUGUST “B BADGE TEST” riding 2p.m £25.00 Please see Chris about practice lessons and to make sure you have done the theory and practical part of the test before the riding. FRIDAY 26TH AUGUST “DRESSAGE & JUMPING COMPETITION” 10.30a.m £20.00 LIVERIES £19.00 This is a two phase competition. The dressage will take place in the morning and the show jumping in the afternoon. Competitors will be grouped according to ability and entries. SATURDAY 27TH AUGUST “MINIMUS JUMPING” 3--5p.m £7 per round LIVERIES £6.00 As 2nd July. MONDAY 29th AUGUST “GYMKHANA” 12noon £18-00 LIVERIES & VETERANS £17-00 This is the third of our gymkhanas and is open to any rider from lead-rein to veterans. Rosettes are awarded to fourth place in each event and trophies to each group champion. WEDNESDAY 31st AUGUST “JUMPING COMPETITIONS” 4p.m £17.00 LIVERIES £16.00 This is the third of our jumping competitions this year. Three or four different ability groups will each compete in two events for rosettes, trophies and points. THURSDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER “TEA/BBQ RIDE” 2-30--4p.m £25.00 LIVERIES £15.00 As 4th August. FRIDAY 2ND SEPTEMBER “HANDY PONY COMPETITIONS” 10.30a.m £9-00 This is a fun competition for riders of any age and ability including lead-rein. Please ask for your groups starting time nearer the day. Rosettes and trophies will be awarded in each group. SUNDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER “TEAM JUMPING COMPETITION” 3p.m TEAM ENTRY £45.00 This competition will be run in teams of three which you must organize yourselves. Each team must have 2 livery ponies and one school pony (school ponies will be allocated on a first come first served basis). Each rider will jump two rounds, one in each team will jump 2’, 2’3in or 2’6in in the first round and 2’3in, 2’6in or 2’9in in the second round.
******************** If you wish to enter any of the above events, please return your form with a £5 deposit for all day events and tea/bbq rides and £2 for all others as soon as possible. All entries MUST be in one week before the event.
******************** The above events are liable to change depending on the number of entries or weather conditions.
******************** There will be a beginners lesson every Thursday at 10-30a.m during the holidays, this is to be booked in the usual way.
******************** If anyone wishes to take any of the tests but are on holiday, please enter stating your holiday dates, as alternative arrangements may be made.
******************** The café will be open at lunch time for all full day events.
