Horses Help Older People!
On Tuesday 7th August, young Riders from St Leonards Riding School once again ‘took to the saddle’ to help the older people of the area.
For years now, St Leonard’s Riding School has raised money for Age UK by taking part in a ‘Joint Fundraising Show Jumping Competition’ where all the funds raised are split between the riding school and Age UK.
Over the years, the school has raised many thousands of pounds for the charity and this year looks like it will be even better.
All of the participants receive a medal for taking part, incentives for levels of fundraising achieved and the highest fundraiser will receive a trophy.
The money donated to the charity will go to help older people in the surrounding area.
Angela Barnes of Age UK said ‘St Leonard’s chose Help the Aged, now Age UK, as their charity many years ago and each year the school, the parents and all of the children continue to amaze us with their generosity. The money has helped many older people in the area including funding the setting up of older people’s forums.
These forums enable older people to have their voices heard to create change.
This is just one example of our work that St Leonard’s has helped us to support.
